Liver Hemangioma Scan

Patient Preparation

None. Patient should not have had any recent barium studies.

Exam Procedure

A sample of blood will be taken from a vein in the patient's arm, and will be labeled with a radioactive tracer. Approximately 30 minutes later, the blood will be re-injected into the patient's vein. Images of the abdomen will be taken immediately following the injection and again 120 minutes after the injection. The patient is free to leave the department between the first and second sets of images.
