Ava's T21 Foundation Donation to FMH BirthPlace

After the birth of their daughter Ava, who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome upon delivery, Maggie and her husband Matt were inspired to provide comfort and support to new parents experiencing the same diagnosis.

“Our daughter has been an incredible source of joy to our family, and surpasses our expectations every day. We wanted to show people what a wonderful blessing Down Syndrome can be.”

For each baby born with Down syndrome at FMH, the family will receive a Welcome to the World basket from Ava’s T21 Foundation. Each basket will include goodies that all babies need; like clothes, toys, diapers, and wipes, along with some extras; like a candle for mom and dad, along with some resources for when they’re ready.

Maggie and Matt have also made a donation of four books to the FMH Billy Miller NICU Library. These books feature up-to-date information and personal stories from families raising children with Down syndrome, as well and their children’s wonderful accomplishments.

“Our hope is that these baskets and resources can bring a family some comfort and inspiration during a time in their lives where a lot of things are unknown. We hope that they will see just how extraordinary that extra chromosome is!”

Thank you to Ava’s T21 Foundation for their generous donation to Frederick Memorial Hospital and the FMH BirthPlace.
