Behavioral Health Services in Frederick, MD
The Frederick Memorial Hospital Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program
and Intensive Outpatient Program (PPHP/IOP) provide treatment for adults
18 and older with psychiatric disorders and co-occurring substance use
disorders that require a higher level of care than outpatient treatment.
These programs can provide treatment as a “step down” from
an inpatient hospitalization, or to prevent a hospitalization. Patients
work with a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, including psychiatrists,
social workers, and nurses, to provide:
- Treatment planning
- Medication management
- Group therapy
- Educational groups
- Individual therapy
- Family therapy
- Transition and after care
The treatment goal of the PPHP and IOP is stabilization and re-integration
into career, community, and family.
The PPHP is a 5-day a week, 6-1/2 hours per day program. The IOP is 3-5
days a week, 3 hours per day and is often a step-down from the PPHP. The
average length of stay is from 1-3 weeks.
How to Access PPHP/IOP
Patients are referred to PPHP from the FMH Emergency Department Crisis
Management Services; the FMH Behavioral Health Unit; other inpatient psychiatric
facilities; and outpatient psychiatrists and therapists in the community.
