Billing and Insurance for Imaging Exams

What to expect before your exam:

If you have Insurance:

Depending on the exam and your insurance plan, your exam may require insurance authorization prior to your exam. If you have questions regarding the authorization of your exam, please contact your insurance carrier or FMH Financial Counseling at 240-566-4781.

If you do not have insurance, a financial counselor at 240-566-4781 will be happy to speak with you regarding payment options and plans.

What to expect the day of the exam:

Upon your arrival to an FMH Imaging facility you will be registered for your exam. The FMH Registrar will ask to make a copy of your valid ID and insurance card (if applicable) and exam order. Please be prepared to pay any co-pays or deductibles the day of your service.

What to expect after your exam:

You will likely receive 2 bills for your imaging exam; one from FMH for your exam and another for interpreting your exam from Radiology Associates of Frederick. To speak with a representative of Radiology Associates of Frederick, please call 844-279-5009

If you do not have insurance, payment is arranged by calling FMH Patient Accounts at 240-566-3330.

When will my doctor receive the report of my imaging exam?

Before your physician or healthcare provider receives the report of your exam, each imaging exam is read by a board-certified radiologist.

Your doctor typically receives the report of your imaging exam within 2 to 3 business days. Your doctor will share the results of your imaging exam with you.

How can I obtain a copy of the report or images of the exam

You are entitled to a copy of your medical records including imaging reports and a copy of the images of your imaging exam.

FMH Patient Portal

Be sure to sign up for the FMH Patient Portal when you register for your exam. Within the portal, you can view and print your Imaging reports.

Copies of Imaging Exams and Reports

For your convenience, we can place your imaging exam and associated report on a CD or DVD at no cost to you. Please call 240-566-3420 option 3 to arrange pick-up at either Rosehill or Crestwood.

What to bring:

For safety purposes, patients (or legal guardians) must present a valid ID prior receiving copies of reports and images.

If you are unable to pick up your medical imaging information, please give a note to a designee giving permission for that individual to pick up your images and/or report. Your designee will also need to present a valid ID when picking up your information.
