Recently, Greg & Sherry Willhide presented the FMH Cancer Patient Assistance Fund with a check for $8,755.50. After Sherry’s battle with cancer, the couple wanted to make a difference in the lives of others fighting cancer. Together with their friends non-profit, they hosted and organized their fifth annual all you can eat chicken and shrimp feast raising $8,755.50 to support the FMH Cancer Patient Assistance Fund. In the past five years, they have raised close to $24,000 to help support this worthy cause.

The FMH Cancer Patient Assistance Fund was created to assist patients who are having trouble affording their medications, dietary supplements and other medical necessities associated with their diagnosis of cancer. Supported entirely by community donations, the Fund has no overhead hidden costs; every dollar contributed goes directly to patients in need.

“It warms my heart to know there are so many people willing to help us raise money for the FMH Cancer Patient Assistance Fund. Until you experience cancer yourself, you have no idea what people go through. My heart aches for those who struggle and those who have no insurance. Experiencing cancer changes things in your life and makes you look at ‘life itself’ in a whole different way,” stated Sherry Willhide, event organizer.

“We are blessed to have generous and caring individuals like Greg and Sherry Willhide, who are not only making a difference for FMH but are positively impacting the lives of cancer patients in our community,” stated Dr. P. Gregory Rausch, Chair, FMH Development Council.
