What if my doctor or my family do not agree with my treatment choices or healthcare decision?
Consent and refusal of healthcare is your right. If you have made your preferences known in Advance Directives, your physician and your healthcare agent must make every effort to respect your wishes. If you have appointed someone as your healthcare agent, his or her decisions on your behalf are as meaningful and valid as your own. The wishes of other family members do not override your own written preferences or those made by your healthcare agent on your behalf, if the time comes to make these decisions.
