Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine

Finally, an approach to skin and wound care that goes beyond the surface.

We designed the FMH Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine not only to operate as a state-of-the-art medical facility, but as place where patients feel comfortable. That's why, before we treat any symptom, we go out of our way to make sure you're treated with respect and consideration.

And that's just the beginning.

We not only treat the symptom, we treat the person.  Like a person.

For people living with challenging or chronic, non-healing wounds, burns, or other skin conditions, the center provides many soothing benefits.

  • Hands-on care, supervised by a team of multi-disciplinary experts.
  • Innovative skin/wound products and services.
  • Leading-edge technology.
  • ...not to mention the renowned medical and surgical capabilities of Frederick Memorial Hospital.

At FMH Advanced Skin & Wound Care Center, we work to improve your wound or skin condition quickly and effectively. But our real focus is always on you.

The FMH Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine features two corridors lined with spacious treatment rooms in addition to a pair of hyperbaric chambers.

 Our treatment rooms.

The hyperbaric chambers are large enough to allow patients to sit upright or lay down during treatment, and the flat-screen televisions on top of each chamber help pass the time.

A little pre-planning never hurts.

To prepare for your first visit, just call and make an appointment. You'll be asked a few questions regarding your current condition to help ensure you're seen by the appropriate physicians.

Next, make a list to bring with you that includes any current medications (or herbal treatments) you're using; in information on any drug or food allergies; and any past or present information about skin and wound care products or treatments.

And don't forget to bring along your current records. Providing the Center with medical records, x-rays (if available), and current insurance forms or medical cards helps to simplify and hasten your registration, and any insurance plan requirements.

The initial visit: Your first step to feeling better.

The initial visit will be referred by your physician. But before treatment begins at the FMH Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine, you'll meet with physicians, nurses and/or therapists, who'll perform a wound/skin assessment and review your medical history, as well as general health condition. Specialists will also examine your area(s) of concern, taking measurements and photographs for future comparison. At this time, certain tests may be necessary to provide important information; for example, checking blood flow to the lower leg, or perhaps taking a culture of the wound to see if an infection exists. This information is then entered into a database to track your individual progress over time.

A tradition of quality.  Expert care. Peace-of-mind.  Now just a phone call away.

Discover the difference that advanced skin and wound care can bring. Call us today at 240-566-3840 to schedule an appointment (we gladly accept self-referrals). The Center is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am until 4:30 p.m.
