Who are the FMH Hospitalists?
FMH Hospitalists are board certified physicians who specialize in caring for our hospitalized patients. Our Hospitalists are hand picked internal medicine physicians affiliated with PrimeDoc Management Services, a corporation that provides Hospitalist services for healthcare facilities in the mid-Atlantic region. During your hospitalization, our Hospitalists will manage all aspects of your hospital stay, including consultations with specialists, scheduling tests, ordering medications and performing procedures.

How do Hospitalists affect patient care?
One of the greatest advantages of the program is our FMH Hospitalists are available to care for inpatients seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Our Hospitalists are always available to answer your questions and to respond to any clinical care issues immediately. In case of an emergency, your Hospitalist is never far away. Because our Hospitalists are experts in hospital care, they are aware of the latest developments in the care of hospitalized patients. Your Hospitalist knows every specialist and department in the hospital. Because they work in the hospital, they are able to follow up on tests and adjust your treatment regimen throughout the day.
How do Hospitalists work with my primary care physician?
In many cases your primary care physician may have referred you to our team of Hospitalists to manage your care while hospitalized at FMH. If you were referred to the hospital by your personal physician, he or she contacts the Hospitalist and provides all the necessary informaiton about your condition or illness. If you are admitted through the Emergency Department because of a medical illness, the Hospitalist will contact your physician as needed. During the course of your hospitalization, your Hospitalist will speak to your primary care physician on a frequent basis, and keep him or her appraised of your progress. When you are discharged from the hospital, your Hospitalist will discuss your further treatment needs with your primary care physician, and will send your hospital records to their office. You will be referred back to your regular doctor after you are discharged from the hospital.
Will patients see only one Hospitalist?
The FMH Hospitalist program consists of a team of practicing Hospitalists who follow their assigned patients daily. Patients may see one or more of the Hospitalists during their course of hospitalization depending upon their length of stay. The team coordinates each patient's care on a daily, on-going basis.
What happens after patients are discharged by Hospitalists?
Before you leave the hospital, the Hospitalist will arrange for support services and communicate all follow-up instructions to you, your family and your personal physicians. If the patient does not have an established physician, the Hospitalist makes arrangements to assign a physician for follow-up care.
Some other benefits of Hospitalist care.
Because Hospitalists are in the hospital 24 hours a day, they enable your primary care physician to be more available to you during your office visits. With fewer office delays and interruptions, your primary care doctor will be able to devote more time to keeping you and your family healthy. Also, with a hospitalist in the hospital at all hours of the day and night, it is easier for your and your family to communicate about your care when you might be critically ill.
Will I receive a separate bill for the Hospitalists' services?
Yes, Hospitalists charge for services rendered to patients just as any other physician. In addition to your FMH bill, you will receive a separate billing statement for your PrimeDoc Hospitalist services from:
