Radiation Oncology

The FMH Regional Cancer Therapy Center is home to the only Radiation Oncology department in our area accredited by the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Greg Gagnon joined the FMH CyberKnife Center staff as Medical Director in February 2010.  He spent the previous two decades at Georgetown University's Department of Radiation Medicine, serving as Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology, acting Chair of the Department of Radiation Medicine, Chief of Service and CyberKnife Director.As one of the pioneers in CyberKnife radiosurgery, Dr. Gagnon has extensive experience with the technology and has treated thousands of patients.  His expertise in treating prostate, breast, lung and pancreatic cancers, as well as the work he has done in pediatric and central nervous system cancers has led to several publications and the co-authorship of two books about radiosurgery.  He has been asked to lecture around the world, chiefly about CyberKnife radiosurgery, but also about other varied radiation oncology topics




Meredith Wernick M.D. is a board certified Radiation Oncologist. She received her BS in Chemistry and BA in Molecular & Cell Biology at the University of California at Berkeley in 1996. She spent the next four years as a researcher at the UCSF Cancer Center with a focus on the genetics of breast cancer. Dr. Wernick completed her medical training at Georgetown University where she also completed her Internship in Internal Medicine. She completed her residency in Radiation Oncology at the National Capital Consortium: a joint program as a clinical fellow at the NIH and residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. During this time she was awarded the Commander’s Award for Public Service. She is a member of ASTRO: the American Society of Radiation Oncology, the American Society for Clinical Oncology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology. She has co-authored many peer-reviewed articles in prestigious literary journals such as Nature Genetics, Cancer and PNAS. Dr. Wernick resides in Potomac, Maryland with her husband and two sons.

Our staff is always available to answer any questions that you may have. Our Radiation Oncology nurses can help to manage your symptoms and any side effects that you may experience. We also have Social Workers on site to offer assistance and Dieticians to provide nutritional counseling as needed.

The FMH Radiation Oncology Center is located across from the main hospital in the Regional Cancer Therapy Center.
