Recently, Delaplaine Foundation, Inc. presented Frederick Memorial Hospital
with a generous contribution of $500,000 to help FMH expand its award-winning
oncology program into a fully integrated, comprehensive Cancer Institute.
FMH is delighted to name the Multidisciplinary Clinic in honor of Delaplaine
Foundation’s generosity. As part of the new Cancer Institute the
Delaplaine Multidisciplinary Clinic will provide expanded space for treatment
planning and clinical coordination among FMH’s care teams, and allow
newly diagnosed patients to meet with everyone involved in their care.
Previously, the Delaplaine Foundation made a gift of $25,000 in support
of the project. An exam room in the Delaplaine Multidisciplinary Clinic
will be named in memory of the late Bettie Delaplaine. In total, the Foundation
has contributed $525,000 to help make this project a reality for cancer
patients in our community.
“There is probably none among us who hasn’t been impacted personally
within our family or circle of friends by cancer. Delaplaine Foundation
recognizes the pressing and growing need for centralized, comprehensive
cancer care. We know that FMH will be building on its solid foundation
of providing superior community healthcare with the FMH Cancer Institute
in its commitment to the prevention, detection, treatment and care of
patients with cancer in a single, convenient location,” stated Marlene
Young, President of Delaplaine Foundation, Inc. “Just as we have
supported prior life-saving and life sustaining initiatives at FMH such
as LifeNet and CyberKnife, we at Delaplaine Foundation recognize the vital
importance of the FMH Cancer Institute in providing advanced, comprehensive
care for cancer patients. In its mission to enrich families and communities,
Delaplaine Foundation is proud to support the FMH Cancer Institute.”
“We are truly grateful to Delaplaine Foundation for their continued
generosity and their strong commitment to the health of this community.
Philanthropy continues to be vital to FMH’s future and our community
is fortunate to have a great philanthropic partner in Delaplaine Foundation,”
stated Tom Kleinhanzl, President & CEO of Frederick Regional Health System.
