For females of all ages, a well-woman exam is one of the most important steps they can take to protect their overall health and well-being. A well-woman exam takes all health factors—from preventive to reproductive health—into consideration. Frederick Regional Health System sees to it that every woman receives the screenings and services she needs to remain in the best health possible.

The following services are offered at all Frederick Regional Health Systems locations:

  • Physical exam

  • Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC)(available at Mt. Airy location)

  • Routine pelvic exam

  • Mammogram (depending on age)

  • Pap smear (depending on age)

  • Contraceptive discussions

  • Education and consultation for health goals

  • Vaccinations, screenings, and other preventive services, as needed

Women should start to receive annual well-woman exams between the ages of 18 and 21, or when they become sexually active. If you are experiencing any gynecological or women’s health issues, you should schedule an exam sooner.
