Safety & Injury Prevention
Child Passenger Safety
Field experience at various safety seat inspections shows that nine out of ten safety seats are not being used or installed correctly. Is yours? Child safety seats are very effective when installed and used correctly, but in Maryland it is estimated that the misuse rate is approximately 90%! FMH Wellness Center's Safety and Injury Prevention Program helps to reduce the number of needless injuries and deaths by educating the public on child passenger safety.
Community Child Safety Seat Checkpoints
Safe Kids Frederick County and the Frederick County Division of Fire & Rescue Services offers child safety seat checks free of charge, quarterly at different fire departments throughout Frederick County. The car seat checks usually take about 30 minutes per car seat and the checks are performed on a first come first served basis.
